Our Story

Meet poppi

The poppi story starts in 2015, when Allison Ellsworth began developing a drink in her Dallas kitchen with fruit juices, prebiotics and sparkling water. She later brought the bottled drink to a local farmers’ market, where a Whole Foods buyer discovered it.

The next chapter brought Allison and her husband Stephen to Shark Tank. The official timeline records a 2018 deal with Rohan Oza; after that deal, a bold rebrand followed and poppi was born. The timeline marks the poppi launch in 2020 and the brand joining the PepsiCo family in 2025.

What is inside

Each can contains prebiotics from cassava root fiber and agave inulin, and the official education page says every can contains apple cider vinegar. Across the range, the stated limits are 5g of sugar or less and 35 calories or less.

All flavors are certified gluten-free through the Gluten-Free Certification Organization, Non-GMO Project Verified and OU Kosher. The range uses some organic ingredients but is not certified organic; it is described as vegan but not certified vegan.

That is the idea behind poppi’s line: “the freedom to love soda again.”
